Stumbled on my old snapshots from walking the streets in Moscow about two years ago + decided to pull a few to edit.
Ryan + Emily have one of those stories that kind of knocks me off my feet. I got chills when they told me how it all happened and stories like this, you just can’t help but share. Ryan and Emily were first introduced on match.com; they emailed back and forth briefly until Emily took a few job interviews across the country and decided to focus on her work (she’s a rocket scientist by the way, no big deal or anything) and possible impending move instead of checking her matches online in the Destin area.
Fast-forward a few months.
Emily regularly played volleyball on the beach courts behind the Crab Trap and was rushing to the locker room to change for her game when she walked by a really cute guy. So like all of us women do when making eye contact with a cute stranger, she smiled. We all hope for a look-back when this happens, and Emily got one. Crazy twist though – he already knew her name. She was the match.com girl who never wrote him back. Is that crazy or what? Even writing this, I’m still grinning. It’s such happenstance, like something you read about in a book but never think actually happens. She invited him to watch her volleyball game that day and 10 months later, he proposed. Crazy, happy, perfect story. I love it.
Dan and Chelsea are one of the most ridiculously loud yet hilariously entertaining couples I’ve spent time with in a while. It does help, though, that they’re both performers – Dan is the frontman for Clinch 46, a well-liked local band here in Destin – check out their dates here. Chelsea is an incredible singer and just moved out to northern California this past fall to attend school at Bethel. She is currently planning a trip to Russia – this girl is the antithesis of boring! I don’t think I went a full five minutes without laughing during the three hours we spent together. It’s very rare and incredibly refreshing to spend time with people who genuinely enjoy each other’s company; it’s so easy to see how full their hearts are when they’re together.
“It’s a strange thing, how you can love somebody, how you can be all eaten up inside with needing them–and they simply don’t need you. That’s all there is to it, and neither of you can do anything about it. And they’ll be the same way with someone else, and someone else will be the same way about you and it goes on and on–this desperate need–and only once in a rare million do the same two people need each other.” ― Madeleine L’Engle
A few weeks ago, I had the best afternoon with my friend Ashlee in Freeport where her family owns five horses on a gorgeous piece of property.
This girl is one of the best people I know – always lit up with confidence and a wild spirit that you just can’t help but be inspired by. Plus, she’s super gorgeous + an amazing mom to her adorable son. Hats off to my friend that I’m so thankful for, one of the most bold+beautiful women that I know.
A little preview for the newlyweds! I am so happy to have had the pleasure of photographing Molly+Brian’s wedding. With only two hours notice (since the original photographer couldn’t make the wedding) it was absolute fate that I met these two + I’m so thrilled to have been there for their special day.
